Greetings fellow Caterpillar enthusiasts. As this is my first president’s message, I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself.
I come to this hobby from a very different direction. I am not an operator or CAT mechanic. I spent my career as a studio glass artist. Understanding, building, and maintaining studio equipment was a big part of the job. it’s no big stretch of the imagination to maintain and restore a caterpillar tractor. I have been involved with various Caterpillar and machinery clubs for close to twenty years.
As Summer winds down, I hope you have had an opportunity to attend or participate in some of the many shows that have featured Caterpillar tractors and machinery in this 100th anniversary year of the merger between the Best and the Holt tractor companies.
Yellow Power was present at the Half Century of Progress show in Rantoul, Illinois where over 100 Caterpillar tractors and various pieces of equipment were assembled. We were also present at the Earthmoving legacy Center in Elkader, Iowa to help them celebrate their “Century of Caterpillar”. Watch for pictures of these events in upcoming newsletters.
If you’ve never been there, I highly recommend putting the Earthmoving Legacy Center on your bucket list of thing to see and do.
Some Yellow Power members may have heard rumors of a merger between YPCC and ACMOC. Currently, those talks have been discontinued with ACMOC citing the need to get their house in order.
Yellow Power will continue to grow and build its brand with some exciting new offerings in the near future. We are currently looking at shows to attend. If you know of any events coming up that are featuring Caterpillar, contact a board member.
I look forward to meeting more members at future shows and events throughout the year. In the meantime, let’s keep those tracks and wrenches turning.
